Benchmark Young Adult School

Benchmark Young Adult School was founded in September, 1993 by Jayne Selby-Longnecker, M.Ed., who is considered to be a leader in the industry of young adult emotional growth and special education.  Knowing that many young people are unable to transition successfully into adulthood, she recognized that she could impart her comprehensive experience and understanding of addiction to provide a school where such students could learn to live independently.

With that in mind, Benchmark is dedicated to assisting “at risk” young adults by fostering a positive environment in which to provide guidance and the skills required to transition into the world of education, work, physical and emotional health, independence and emancipation.

Benchmark is located in the historic town of Redlands, California.  Located at the foot of the San Bernardino Mountains, approximately 60 miles East of Los Angeles, Redlands is centrally located near the educational, vocational and cultural opportunities that lend to our community-based learning curriculum, yet just far enough away from the fast-paced temptations found in a big city.

Families play a crucial role in the success of our students, so we emphasize the development of the family as a whole, in addition to the success of each individual student.  Our caring staff of Certified Life Coaches/Addiction Specialists and experienced instructional team offers a diverse combination of experience and education, providing the foundation, or the Benchmark, for success!
